Useful tips on Remanufactured Cartridges and Compatible Inkjet cartridges!

Ink jet printers might be inexpensive; but unit price should not necessarily be the sole influence over your purchase decision. The real cost of printing is in the ink. For both type of Inkjets (color or monochrome) the cost of consumables and replacing ink cartridges can drive up the additional cost in the long run. The actual purchase price of the unit usually represents only five percent of the total lifetime cost of the inkjet printer. If you plan to print lots of photos or graphics, you will need to replace ink cartridges more frequently. Considering that an ink cartridge costing between US$17 and US$45 and producing only a few hundred pages, it is not surprising that the cost of replacement cartridges often far exceeds the printers initial purchase price over the lifetime of the printer.

Because of the expense of inkjet cartridges and the thirst of many inkjet printers most printer users, like you and me, have an avid interest in less expensive refill kits or third-party compatible inkjet cartridges.

Compatible or Aftermarket inkjet cartridges.

I think there is a big confusion ,even among some cartridge retailers, according to what is a compatible inkjet cartridge.

First of all a compatible inkjet cartridge is not manufactured by the name-brand company. These cartridges are only replacements (or copies) of the OEM cartridges. These compatible cartridges are typically inexpensive and should meet the same specifications as the OEM cartridge.

With compatible ink cartridges you can achieve the same print quality as with brand name cartridges, but at significant savings, which can often  go up to 65%! All of the compatible cartridges must meet the rigorous quality assurance standards, specifications and must be ISO 9001 certified.

With inexpensive compatible ink cartridges you will be able to print up to three times as much for the same money. Compatible Ink cartridges are very simple to use. Just insert the same as you would the normal OEM cartridge and you are ready to go. But you have to make sure that the third party cartridge is compatible with your printer model.

Most manufacturers discourage using these third party ink cartridges and often require that you use only their OEM ink cartridges (Original Equipment Manufacturer) in their printers. The main reason behind this, that printer manufacturers make more money on selling printer supplies than selling the printers itself.

As they say: "We make our money on the blades, not the razors."

Therefore, unfortunately, some printer manufacturers (Epson) have begun the development of their "new" inkjet printers. These inkjet printers incorporate a so-called "smart chip" in their ink cartridges, which makes it difficult or even impossible to refill the cartridge! The embedded smart chip in the cartridge detects when a cartridge is empty and marks it as such. If you refilled the cartridge with ink, and put the cartridge back in to the printer, you still wouldnt be able to print with it because the printer thinks it's unfilled, since the chip set the cartridge's condition as empty. In this case you should reset the cartridge with the so called cartridge resetter ( Available in all major inkjet cartridge websites for $9.80)

Take advantage of the huge savings on compatible cartridges!

Some savvy cartridge refillers puts tape over a certain electrical contact  and install the cartridge back into the printer with the contact covered with tape. They repeat the process with a different contact covered and install the cartridge again and finally install the cartridge last time without the contacts covered. It should reset the cartridge also but I do not intend to go this in detail because with the majority of the HP and Lexmark cartridges you don't have to reset any micro chip. With those cartridges the printer will not reject the cartridge just because you refilled it.

We offer compatible cartridges for the most popular brands of inkjet printers, including Canon, Epson, Hewlett Packard Brother, Compaq, IBM/Lexmark, Xerox, and more for a very affordable price.
