How long your prints will last?

And finally one last question that you have to ask when printing your everyday photographs.

How long will your images last?

The three-major factors that influence the longevity of your printed photographs are:

1,Quality of Ink. 2, Quality of paper. 3,environment.

Printer Papers may yellow and deteriorate from exposure to light and may be susceptible to humidity and certain gases in the air. Beside these factors, ultraviolet light is also a major cause of fading on printed photographs.

Cheap papers may contain acids that can degrade the paper itself.

Better papers vary from acid free to plastic coated to minimize this problem.

You can find many affordable acid free papers on the market.

A number of printer manufacturers make specifically designed paper not only for the task of reproducing photographs, but to work with the ink to increase the life of the final printouts and make it resistant to fading overtime.

printer papers-photo papers, coated papers and glossy papers. Some pictures printed with pigment-based inks on the specifically designed paper could be displayed for 100 years before noticeable fading occurs. Normally you can expect around 10-30 years from your printed memorabilia, stored under ideal conditions. Some specially formulated ink offer an estimated life of 65-70 years in average indoor display conditions used with the right paper.

A some advice that may help you protect your memorabilia from fading and other damages.

Keep your printed photographs away from strong light, high humidity and from an environment with a high level of ozone or gases. Store your photos in boxes; albums or frames, if possible under dark storage conditions. It will help preserve the original beauty of your prints.

Choose the right quality paper, which has an additional layer. It can protect ink from oils and lotions and other damages from hands, airborne contaminants, minor scratches, and even fight against humidity.

If you decide to frame your prints and hang it on the wall consider your wall space and picture size.

A large photo in a small area might appear cramped , while a small photo on a big space will tend to look lost. If your printer can't make larger photos, consider  putting groups of small photos in the area.

I hope the information you found in our printer paper guide was helpful and you will have fun taking your photos and enjoy making beautiful prints from them.
